MDHS WON 4 AWARDS IN THE 2030 LOW CARBON CHALLENGE PROGRAM

MDHS WON 4 AWARDS IN THE 2030 LOW CARBON CHALLENGE PROGRAM

The Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) has won 4 "Diamond Recognition" in conjunction with the 2030 Low Carbon City Challenge Program (LCC 2030 Challenge) at the 2020 Low Carbon City Awards Ceremony organized by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Center (MGTC) yesterday.

The award ceremony was held live on Facebook MGTC on 6 April 2021 which was completed by YB Dato' Sri Tuan Ibrahim bin Tuan Man, Minister of Environment and Water. The Hulu Selangor District Council was represented by the President, Tuan Dr. Mohd Azhar bin Mohamed Ali to receive the award.
For the record, this year is the second year MDHS has received this award. MDHS is committed to implementing this Low Carbon City program to support the government's desire to achieve the goal of reducing the intensity of carbon monoxide emissions by 2030 and encourage the residents of Hulu Selangor to adopt a low carbon lifestyle. This matter is also in line with the Strategic Core: Planning Sustainable Development To Achieve People's Well-being as outlined in the MDHS Strategic Plan 2019-2023.

This ceremony was held to appreciate the efforts of the Local Authority (PBT) in realizing various low-carbon city initiatives until reaching standards that are quite proud.

MGTC is an agency that has been mandated by the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) to implement the 2030 Low Carbon City Challenge Program (LCC 2030 Challenge). This program is the second phase of the Implementation of the Low Carbon City Framework (LCCF) for the implementation period from 2019 to 2030.

Through the LCC 2030 Challenge, MDHS received 2 diamond recognitions through 2 categories, namely the Zone category and the Partner Category. For the Zone Category, Bandar Kuala Kubu Bharu has been selected as the project area and has received Diamond recognition for achieving a reduction of 10.52% equivalent to 804.84 tCO 2e of carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, for the Partner Category, Hulu Selangor District Council Headquarters also received a diamond award following the success of reducing carbon emissions by 5.15% since 2017 which is equivalent to 13.71 tCO 2e.

In addition, two agencies that participated in the Partner category also received diamond recognition, namely Masjid Jamek Ar-Rahimah Kuala Kubu Bharu and Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu.

Thank you and congratulations to all parties who have been involved either directly or indirectly so that this success can be achieved. Hopefully the desire to make Hulu Selangor a Low Carbon City by 2035 can be realized.
