The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) in collaboration with technical partner Sepeda Pro is organizing the Hulu Selangor King of Mountain 2022 (Hulu Selangor KOM) on 25 September 2022. This competition is a highway bicycle race and has been rebranded from the Raja Bukit cycling which was last organized in 2019.
The race distance of 40km starts in Bandar Warisan Kuala Kubu Bharu through the spectacular Gap-Bukit Fraser Road and ends at the summit of Bukit Fraser at an altitude of 1,456 meters above sea level.
This open participation managed to gather a total of 800 participants from within and outside the country.
There are 3 categories of participation namely Road Bike (656 participants), Mountain Bike (120 participants) and Folding Bike (24 participants). However, only Road Bike and Mountain Bike participants have competition prizes.
For the Road Bike category, 5 prize categories are contested, namely:
1. Men's Open
2. Men's Junior Masters
3. Men's Masters
4. Women's Open
5. Corporate Team Open
While the Mountain Bike category, 4 prize categories are contested, namely:
1. Men' open
2. Men's junior master
3. Men's masters
4. Women's open
The release of the race and the presentation of prizes was completed by the President of MPHS, Tuan Mohd. Hasry Nor Mohd with the Hulu Selangor District Elders, Raja Dato' Muzaffar Raja Redzwa, MOTAC Malaysia, Muhamad Roslan Khalid and MPHS Deputy President, Awaluddin Zakaria.
The title holder of 'King Of Mountain' was held by Mohd Hafidz Abd. Hamid with a time record of 19 m 34 seconds.
While the title of 'Queen Of Mountain' was held by Ju Pha Som Net with a time record of 23 minutes and 2 seconds.
The President of MPHS said, the organization of this tournament started with a simple organization to become one of the most prestigious non-International Cycling Union (UCI) events in the racing calendar across the country.
All cyclists need to feel for themselves the experience of participating in this fun competition and it is capable of attracting the interest of cycling fans, whether amateurs or professionals, he added.
The organization of this sport will be made an annual activity of MPHS considering the number of encouraging participation from cycling fans. Indirectly, it can also attract foreign tourists to feel the experience of being in this green Hulu Selangor, he added.
