The Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) now known as the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) was established on 1 January 1975 in accordance with Section 4 of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).
MPHS is the result of a combination of:
- Majlis Tempatan Asam Kumbang
- Majlis Tempatan Kalumpang
The total area administered by the Council until 2015 is 175,630.11 hectares which covers 13 sub-districts namely:.
