MPHS seizes hawker stalls

The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) confiscated hawker items left in public places in an operation today (30/6/2022) around Jalan Meranti, Bandar Baru Batang Kali.

A total of 28 operational members comprising 26 enforcement members and 2 members from the Department of Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning (JPSPPA) were involved in the operation. The operation was carried out after it was found that the hawkers in this area had failed to comply with the notice issued to them previously.

MPHS Chairman, Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd said, MPHS had issued advance notices to hawkers in February and June last not to leave business items after the end of operating hours. However, it was found that the hawkers still failed to comply with the instructions issued, resulting in confiscation action being taken.

He also said that hawkers who have a hawker's license issued by MPHS must comply with the stipulated conditions. This action is carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and legal provisions enforced by MPHS and monitoring and actions of this kind will continue from time to time.

In the operation, a total of 4 stalls were confiscated and this confiscation action was implemented under sec. 46(1)(a), and 46(3), Roads, Drains And Buildings Act 1974, which is to put anything or any assembly in a public place.
According to him, traders are reminded to always comply with the conditions that have been set to avoid enforcement actions being imposed on them.
