PRESS STATEMENT BY HIS MAJESTY SULTAN SELANGOR
His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor expressed his disappointment and displeasure with the existence of anti-vaccine groups in this state. His Majesty hopes that the people will not be easily influenced by such distorted understanding. His Majesty believes that vaccines can save the lives of individuals and even a community, especially from dangerous epidemics such as Covid-19.
His Majesty is concerned that if there are still individuals or groups who are stubborn to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, the target of achieving herd immunity by the end of this year will not be achieved, putting the country in a more acute and dangerous epidemic crisis.
His Majesty is also saddened to see the daily figures of new positive cases in the state of Selangor which always show an increase with the cumulative number of positive cases up to 7 June 2021 reaching 203,520 cases, as well as the number of deaths which is very worrying (961 deaths up to 7 June 2021).
For that, His Majesty hopes that the Special Committee to Guarantee Access to Vaccine Supply (JKJABV) will speed up and increase the number of vaccine doses for the people of the state of Selangor.
His Majesty was surprised when confirmed by the Covid-19 Immunization Task Force (CITF), until June 1, 2021, Selangor only received a total of 615,210 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, and not 2.9 million doses as previously claimed. His Majesty emphasized again, it is not fair when the ratio of the total number of vaccine doses is currently disproportionate to the total population of the population in the state of Selangor, which is 6.5 million. His Majesty also likes to remind that the state of Selangor is the largest contributor to Malaysia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), therefore priority should be given to this state.
His Majesty said, in the current situation, people's lives should be given priority over other agendas.
His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor also wants the number of vaccination centers (PPV) in the state of Selangor to be increased, especially in rural areas. His Majesty is of the view that giving vaccines through drive-thru or mobile clinics can speed up the process and expand vaccination coverage.
His Majesty also praised the Selangor State Government's current move to aggressively conduct free Covid-19 screening tests (swab tests) for people in all corners of the state. His Majesty advised the people who have already received the Covid-19 vaccine to remain alert and cautious.
At the same time, His Majesty appealed to all the people to continue to diligently obey the instructions under the Movement Control Order (MCO) that has been set by the government. This includes sitting at home if there is no important business outside, as well as not being complacent in practicing mandatory SOPs such as wearing a face mask, maintaining physical distance and always ensuring personal hygiene.
Here, His Majesty took the opportunity to thank and convey his appreciation to all frontliners in government and private hospitals, as well as health clinics who are still working hard to carry out their duties and responsibilities with full commitment and dedication, in order to ensure well-being and health the people are always protected. His Majesty hopes that all the people can appreciate the sacrifice of these frontliners and give full cooperation in the effort to control and eliminate the Covid-19 pandemic in this country.
So much,

"SERVING THE PEOPLE AND THE COUNTRY"
