Response to the Concerns of Ulu Rening Residents Related to Floods and Landslides

Referring to the statement issued by the Head of Kampung Hulu Rening in The Star dated 19 December 2022, the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) is also aware and concerned about the annoyance of the villagers. However, the location of the stated village is located outside the 15 kilometer radius from the landslide area. The village area and the incident area are separated by agricultural lands, recreation areas and Forest Reserves.
For the purpose of development control, MPHS has stipulated that developers need to submit a development plan application to the Council for technical review and consideration by relevant internal and external departments, including the Hulu Selangor District Land Office (PTDHS), the Department of the Environment (JAS), the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), Minerals and Mines Department (JMG), Public Works Department (JKR), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and other agencies first before any development approval is given.
The State Government, MPHS and related departments are also committed to ensuring that any development is planned in accordance with the Hulu Selangor District Local Plan 2035. For the development of the Genting area, the Council is currently preparing a Draft Genting Highlands Hulu Selangor Special Area Plan prepared together with PlanMalaysia, PlanMalaysia Selangor for the purpose as a reference document to ensure that the development to be carried out complies with the principles of sustainable development.
MPHS has taken action on complaints submitted by residents and discussions with relevant parties have been conducted to resolve complaints and monitoring is also carried out from time to time. However, MPHS calls on the public to submit complaints officially through the Public Complaint Management System (SISPAA) at mphs.spab.gov.my to ensure that it is recorded and action can be taken accordingly.
For related matters, the Council will not compromise with any party found to have failed to comply with the conditions set for land works whether for agricultural purposes, development and so on. MPHS is always open to receiving views and suggestions from various parties to ensure the sustainability and harmony of the Hulu Selangor District can be maintained.
