RESPONSE TO THE STATEMENT OF THE OWNER OF FATHER'S ORGANIC FARM RELATED TO THE CAMPING LICENSE ISSUE
Referring to the statement issued by the operator of the Father's Organic Farm campsite in the Malaysiakini media dated 20 December 2022, the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council would like to clarify that it is the responsibility of any operator carrying out any business activity to submit an application and ensure that the business carried out is in line with the planning permission approval obtained.
Camping activity is an outdoor recreational activity which is a side activity carried out by the hotel/resort owner.
For licensing purposes as in the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing Act (MDHS) 2007, the Council may consider an application for 'camping activities' subject to a private recreation center license application but it needs to look at the conditions given during the planning permission approval.
Any application received will be referred to the internal and external technical department before being brought to the Business Control Committee meeting for consideration.
Since leisure activities including 'camping activities' are increasingly gaining a place among the community and have the potential to attract tourists from within and outside the country to appreciate the beauty of nature, specific and clear policies need to be established to ensure that these activities can be carried out legally and in accordance with management procedures standard (SOP).
